Locals Rant And Rave About The Worst Intersections In Bozeman
Who loves traffic? Easy answer—no one. But here in Montana, that statement hits a little harder. We didn’t choose one of the most rural states in America just to sit bumper-to-bumper. Sure, compared to big cities we have it easy, but there are still certain spots that test everyone’s patience.
What are locals saying about traffic in Montana?
So, we asked the question: “Where’s the worst intersection in town?” And wow, you all did not hold back. I have my own opinion, pretty much anywhere on Main Street in Bozeman from June until the tourists head home, but here’s what you had to say:
Mariah: “Any with a traffic circle. It says yield, not stop!”
Holly: “Durston and 11th.”
Lisa S.: “19th and Main, or 19th and Oak.”
Megan: “Ha! Trick question. We don’t have good intersections in this town.”
RJay: “Any of them with a roundabout.”
Lisa H.: “Truck stop and Amsterdam Road… awful.”
Wendy: “Pick any Downtown Main Street cross street. When someone’s turning left and pedestrians are crossing, it’s a complete stop.”
Tiffany: “7th turning onto Baxter! Turning lane always backs up 7th and Oak!”

It’s clear that while Bozeman may be a charming mountain town, our intersections have a knack for turning the calmest driver into someone muttering under their breath. Whether it’s tourists learning how to use a roundabout, summer traffic on Main, or that one intersection you just know is going to test you... These spots are the real patience check of Montana living.
