I can't be the only one who doesn't understand my utility bill.

I mean, there's this service and that service, there's this fee, and that tax. In the end, it's a bunch of numbers that don't add up. Oh, and the other weird thing...during the winter, when we rarely run the heat is always more than the summer, where we run the AC all season long.

In the end, I'm sure it all makes sense and works itself out.

Speaking of utilities, a recent study predicted what folks can expect to pay in 2025, and let's just say that things could be a whole lost worse here in Montana. Wolf River Electric, a company that specliazes in Solar Panels decided to do some research to determine which states pay the most and which states pay the least.

According to their data, Montanans are getting a great deal when it comes to utility costs. While, we're not ranked first, we are ranked in the Top 10 for states with the lowest utility bills.

So, where does Montana end up on the list? According to the data, with a yearly average cost of 1,362.84 per year (or roughly 113 a month) Montana is ranked 7th out of 50 for the cheapest utility costs. Oh, and we aren't the only state in our region paying low utility bills; Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and Idaho are all ranked ahead of us on the list.

Who knew? I certainly didn't. Although it's probably important to point out that many Montanans use alternative fuels, especially in the winter to warm their homes which can certainly take a chunk out of a utility bill.
