Montana has something for everyone.

Looking for a place to ski? We got it. Looking for some land with no neighbors? We got it. Looking to fish? Looking to hunt? Looking to experience the Old West? Check, check, and check. Yes, Montana is full of outdoor adventure, but you should also know that we're home to business folks, poets, artists, singers, songwriters, and hippies.

To say that Montana is diverse would be an understatement.

Now, keep in mind, not everyone is a big fan of all the diversity. Many Montanans like the old ways. Small towns with lots of charm. Locally owned mom-and-pop stores where folks know who you are by your first name. The type of town that's a throwback for those of us who grew up in simpler times.

If I were to ask you which Montana town is the most disliked, what would you say? I'm willing to bet most of you would say Bozeman.

Bozeman has come under fire because it was once the fastest-growing city in the country. Folks from all over (most of them wealthy) moved here, at least part-time time to escape the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities. In doing so, they forever changed the landscape of the town itself.

Here's the interesting part: the most disliked town in Montana isn't Bozeman. Ok, well then it's probably Butte, right? I mean Butte is known for its rough and tough reputation, so it has to be Butte.

Nope. It's not Butte either.

So if it isn't Bozeman or Butte, is it Billings? Let's be honest, Billings has the most crime out of any city in the state, and it's by far the biggest town, so if we were going to hate on one Montana town, surely it would be Billings.

Wrong again.

Which Montana town is the most disliked?

According to Moving Buddha, the town that no one wants to live in is Missoula. Now, let me defend Missoula for just a minute. Sure, the University isn't as great as Montana State, and yes, the town could use a makeover, but Missoula has a lot going for it. They have the best gyro store in all of America, AND they're not too far from the Bitteroot Valley.

However, according to the data, the Missoula love has come to a halt.

I should let you know that I used to live in Missoula and recently went back for the first time in years for a Celebration of Life for a friend. My takeaway? It's dirtier than it used to be, it's bigger than it used to be, and traffic is worse than it used to be. Also, the people weren't as friendly as I remembered them.

So congratulations, Missoula, on being voted the most disliked town in Montana. That's no small feat.
