There is a new Montana law that has increased the penalty for drivers under the influence of alcohol who kill a person. Montana's DUI laws have seen many changes over the years, but this new penalty is very important and much needed.

The defendant faces up to 20 years in federal prison with three years of supervised release to follow and up to a $250,000 fine.

The Montana Department of Justice has excellent online tools for you to stay informed about all registered sexual and/or violent offenders living in Montana towns, big and small. This Sexual and Violent Offender Registry (SVOR) will display in map form, or you can look up very specific neighborhoods.

Watch out for a new email scam targeting Montana residents, falsely claiming to be from the Department of Transportation about a traffic violation.
