Winter Weather Advisory Until Noon on Monday 3/4/2013

Folks living or traveling in the higher elevations are going to see some snow today and tonight. Also great news for people who have Monday off to ski! Details here:

A Winter Weather Advisory for elevations above 6000 feet across
portions of southwest Montana for snow remains in effect until
noon MST Monday.

* Timing and main impact: snow will continue in the mountains of
southwest Montana through Sunday night. Light snow accumulations
may occur in the valleys as well. Travel will remain difficult
in the mountains... especially over mountain passes. Initially
melting snow will refreeze on the roadways... then the Road will
become snow covered.

* Snow accumulations: total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches
of snow are expected in the mountains... with up to 14 inches
possible on the higher ridge tops. Less than 2 inches of
snowfall are expected in the valleys.

* Winds and visibility: visibilities will be reduced to less than
one half mile at times. West winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to
40 mph will also create areas of blowing snow... mainly through
today.

* Elevations: the advisory is in effect for elevations above 6000
feet.

* Other impacts: power outages in some areas could be possible
due to the wet and heavy snowfall.

* Locations affected include: Battle Ridge Pass... Targhee
Pass... West Yellowstone... Big Hole Pass... Chief Joseph
Pass... Monida Pass... Raynolds Pass.
