On March 5, the Southern Poverty Law Center sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and Security Secretary Janet Napolitano warning of the "tremendous increase in the number of conspiracy-minded, anti-government 'Patriot'" groups and the terror risk these groups pose.

One of the specific examples used in the letter is that of an "anti-government movement leader in Montana" who "said he was 'prepared to become an outlaw' over the gun issue."

It is difficult to say exactly who the letter is referring to, but it is likely former Florida resident and current Flathead Valley resident Chuck Baldwin. Who's original comments on the 2nd Amendment can be found at The Daily Paul a political website that contains articles in the vein of former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul.

On their website, the Southern Policy Law center provides a detailed Hate Map which indicates that Whitefish leads the pack for the number of hate groups in Montana, followed by Billings and Great Falls.

When told that the United Klans of America and The Crusaders for Yahweh had put Great Falls on the hate map, Great Falls Mayor Michael Winters said, "I was totally unaware of both of those organizations and as far as I know they are not active in Great Falls. As a matter of fact, I just spoke with our police chief regarding that and of course the law enforcement has to report such activities and they have had no reports."

Mayor Winters:
