What’s the Worst Job to Have in 2013?

Boss Yelling

Some fields are better than others.

And some you may want to think about avoiding altogether.

CareerCast has created a list of the worst careers for 2013.

Topping the list? Newspaper reporter. You don’t have to wear a hat with the word “press” in it while smoking a cigar to figure out it’s a profession that’s hit more than just a rough patch.

Rankings were determined by looking at environment, income, outlook and stress. Considering the pay for a reporter is around $36,000 and the industry itself continues to die out like dinosaurs after an asteroid, it’s no real surprise.

Taking the runner-up spot was lumberjack. Seriously, a lumberjack. Clearly, Paul Bunyan and the guy from Brawny paper towels aren’t inspiring as many people as they did in days gone by.

Perhaps the most surprising thing about this list is that Amanda Bynes‘ PR rep somehow didn’t make the top 10. How far off the deep end does your client have to fall in order to get some love?

1. Newspaper reporter
2. Lumberjack
Enlisted military personnel
Oil rig worker
Dairy farmer
Meter reader
Mail carrier
Flight attendant
