Two people are dead and seven others were injured on Saturday night after the driver of a Jeep Wrangler lost control and rolled the vehicle on Interstate 90 near Bonner.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Benjamin Panas said the fatalities included a man in his late 20's and a woman in her 30's. The other occupants of the vehicle were all transported to St. Patrick Hospital and their injuries are unknown.

Trooper Panas said there were a total of nine people in the vehicle, the driver and eight passengers.

"Two of the passengers were ejected and died at the scene," Panas said. "There was one male and one female pronounced dead. The driver and the other passengers were transported to the hospital. The vehicle was westbound at about mile marker 111, between the Bonner and Turah exits. It was a Jeep Wrangler-type vehicle with a roll cage."

Trooper Panas said excessive speed did not seem to play a factor, however, it is suspected that alcohol may have played a part in the fatal crash.

The accident remains under investigation by the Montana Highway Patrol.
