The Canada Lynx Has Recovered Congressman Greg Gianforte and Senator Steve Daines where happy to hear the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has concluded that the Canada lynx should be considered for delisting due to its recovery.

When the animal was put on the list the Canada lynx population was very small and protected. Now the lynx's numbers have risen. This is a good thing and they don't need protection anymore.

“I welcome the finding of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that the Canada lynx has recovered and should be considered for delisting. I appreciate the conclusion of the Service’s work and look forward to next steps being taken, given the species’ recovery. We should celebrate today’s news as a win for both the lynx and Montana and as a promising first step on a road to delisting.” Congressman Gianforte said.

“This report is exciting news and the result of two decades of collaborative work between state and tribal governments, conservation organizations, sportsmen, landowners, and countless others who are committed to protecting and recovering the Canada lynx,” said Daines. “Secretary Zinke has done great work to ensure our endangered species can reach recovery, and I look forward to working closely with him as the delisting of the Canada lynx is considered so that management of the species can be returned to the states and our tribes.
