This Friday saw protests, violence and retaliation in four different cities. In Syria, protestors were fired upon by the government after they set fire to a statue of the country's late president. U.S. officials are calling for a stop to the violent handling of the protestors by the countries' governments.
"We will not forget the martyrs of Daraa," a resident told The Associated Press by telephone. "If they think this will silence us, they are wrong."
