Jared Loughner Sentenced to Life in Prison Without Parole
In a federal court today in Tuscon, Arizona, Jared Loughner received a life sentence without parole for his shooting rampage in January 2011 that killed six people and wounded 13, including then-U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords (D.-Ariz.).
Gabrielle Giffords’ Husband, Mark Kelly, Planned to Fly in Fatal Reno Air Show
A spokesman for Arizona Representative Gabrielle Giffords, who was severely injured in a shooting spree earlier this year, said Giffords’ husband, Mark Kelly, was scheduled to fly in the Reno air show on Friday — the same day a plane at that event crashed into the crowd of spectators and killed 10 people.

In an August 26 newsletter, the Pima County Republican Party announced it’s raffling off a handgun to raise money for the group.
The problem? Pima County is within the Arizona congressional district of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was nearly killed earlier this year after a shooting at a local meet-and-greet event left six people dead. As a result, many feel raffling off a Glock .45 — the same type of gun used in the attack — is in poor taste.

As the US House of Representatives gathered to vote on the debt ceiling plan on Monday, Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords surprised almost everyone by showing up to cast her first vote since an attempt on her life was made in January of this year.
Rep. Gabrielle Giffords Smiling in New Facebook Photos
Rep. Gabrielle Giffords on Sunday posted two new photos to her Facebook page, offering the first official look at the congresswoman from Arizona since she was shot in the head in January.
The two photos, which were captured by P. K. Weis on May 17, show a smiling Gifford at the TIRR Memorial Hermann, where she has been receiving treatment. In one photo, Gifford is seen sitting and smiling alongside her mother.
