MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — A high schooler in northwest Montana has been cited for reportedly bringing a gun onto campus.
The Missoulian reports the Arlee High School student, whose name has not been released, was found with the pistol in his backpack Wednesday and was cited with possession of a weapon in a school building, a misdemeanor. Schools Superintendent James Baldwin declined to say if the student has been suspended or expelled.
He says school officials had been notified that the student was going to bring a firearm to school, and the backpack was immediately searched when he arrived.
The incident angered some parents because they weren't told about it until Thursday. The school has scheduled an open meeting Wednesday to allow parents to voice their concerns.
