Oikos University, a small Christian nursing school in Oakland, Calif., became the tragic locale for the nation’s latest school shooting on Monday when a gunman opened fire at about 10:30 a.m.

Police have thus far refused to confirm the number of dead and wounded, but it’s believed that at least six people were killed and several others were injured.

The still-unnamed shooter was later apprehended about three miles from the school.

Pastor Jong Kim, who founded Oikos University about 10 years ago, says the suspect was once a student there but no longer enrolled. Kim wasn’t sure if he’d dropped out voluntarily or been expelled.
