Seven people were arrested Sunday afternoon, April 13, as they protested a Montana Rail Link Coal train passing through Missoula.

Sergeant Mike Hebert with the Missoula Police Department said between 20 and 30 people gathered near the 600 block of Vine Street to protest the MRL coal transports.

“Seven individuals actually got onto the tracks, though they moved as soon as the train came into view,” Hebert said. “Those seven were all cited for misdemeanor disorderly conduct. The suspects ranged in age from 22 to 73. There were three males and four females and they were all cited and released. Everything was peaceful.”

All seven protesters will appear in Missoula Municipal Court on Monday on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct. Hebert said no one was injured during the incident.
