Senator John Walsh To Public Service Commission: “Approve The Dam Sale”

Senator Walsh wrote to the Montana Public Service Commission urging approval of the sale of Montana’s hydroelectric dams from PPL Montana to NorthWestern Energy.

“These dams are a rich part of Montana's heritage and economy,” Walsh wrote. “The facilities have many decades of operational life ahead, offering a long-term, clean, carbon-free, and reliable generation asset for Montana consumers.  I urge the Commission to consider these attributes as you deliberate this proposal.”

Selling the dams to NorthWestern would return the hydroelectric plants to the hands of a Montana-controlled company and sustain the high-quality union jobs in the region.
