Senator Baucus' Office is looking for volunteers to assist with the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Trade Commission meeting May 6-21 in Big Sky.

More than 1,500 delegates from the 21 APEC economies will attend the high-level trade negotiation meeting.

Volunteers are needed at the Gallatin Field Airport during arrivals and departures for APEC delegates. The Montana Host Committee has formed to facilitate the accommodation of these delegates. The delegates' first interaction with the people of Montana will be at the Gallatin Field Airport. The State Department has requested the recruitment of friendly, adept volunteers to welcome these individuals to our state. We will be seeking individuals who enjoy interacting with foreign visitors and want to assist in making their first moments in our state hospitable and pleasant.

Tasks will include being able to give directional information (bathroom, baggage claim, transportation, hospitality room), help to locate transportation schedule and payment, and basic problem solving and advice about things to do in the area. Shifts will last about four hours each; four to five volunteers will be needed per shift.

Those interested in volunteering are asked to attend a training session with US Department of State employees Friday, April 8, from 9-11 a.m. at the Gallatin Field Airport's Hospitality Room.
