BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Search crews have found the body of a 3-year-old Canadian boy who went missing after falling into a river in central Montana earlier this week.
Musselshell County Sheriff Shawn Lesnik tells The Billings Gazette the boy, whose name and hometown have not been released, was found dead Thursday evening. The boy fell into the Musselshell River near Roundup on Monday.
Lesnik says divers searched sections of the water that cadaver dogs had identified, and the recent warmer weather eased the pressure on search crews. But the temperatures also caused river levels to rise and made the ice "dicey to work on."
Roundup is about 50 miles (80 kilometers) north of Billings.
