Rescue on The ‘M’ This Week

Monday evening at 6 p.m., the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue an American Medical Response ambulance, and the Bridger Canyon Fire Department responded to the “M” trailhead for a backcountry rescue. A 47-year-old female fell about a quarter of a mile from the trailhead. She injured the ankle on one leg and the knee on the other leg. The severity of the injuries left her unable to walk back to the trailhead.

American Medical Response personnel hiked to the patient and provided medical care. Search and Rescue members arrived shortly afterwards with a specialized rescue liter. Responders transported the patient back to the trailhead on the rescue liter. She was transferred to the waiting American Medical Response ambulance and taken to the hospital.

Sheriff Brian Gootkin would like to remind people enjoying the outdoors to carry a means of communication with them. The ability to call for help in this incident helped to ensure a quick and successful rescue.
