Polygamist Leader On Trial Uses Statements Received From God As Defense

Warren Jeffs, a 55 year old polygamist leader in Texas, is accused of sexual assaulting two underage girls, 12 and 15 years old. During his court hearing, Jeffs threw out his defense attorneys and proclaimed he would be defending himself along with the statements he has received directly from God.

Jeffs told the Judge Barbara Walther in the words of God, "I, the Lord God of heaven, call upon the court to cease this open prosecution against my pure, holy way."

Jeff's also relayed an ultimatum from God if the trial continues; the statement read, "I will send a scourge upon the counties of prosecutorial zeal to make humbled by sickness and death."
