Law enforcement officers in Park County shot and killed a man yesterday afternoon after they said he shot a woman and then pointed his gun at police. There is no report regarding the medical status of the woman the man is accused of shooting.

The man, Thomas Kyros of Florida, was shot by law enforcement about 1:18 p.m. after the officers responded to a reported shooting at 50 Outlaw Hill Road, which is south of Livingston.

A news release from Park County Sheriff Allan Lutes and County Attorney Brett Linneweber states that Kyros shot Georgia Smith. When law officers arrived at the scene, Kyros pointed a gun at the officers, and they shot him, the release said. The state Division of Criminal Investigation is involved in the investigation, and an autopsy on Kyros is scheduled for Tuesday.

After police shot Kyros, Smith was taken to the hospital, the release said. Smith's condition is not known. Hospitals in Livingston, Bozeman and Billings said they didn't have a Georgia Smith on their patient lists. There is no listing for Smith in the Livingston phone book.

The shooting happened outside of Livingston, although the Park County dispatchers wouldn't say which law-enforcement agency was involved.
