Stephen Colbert Comes to Michele Bachmann’s Defense Over John Wayne Gacy Gaffe [VIDEO]

Stephen Colbert (sort of) defended Michele Bachmann’s now-infamous, accidental comparison to serial killer John Wayne Gacy on Tuesday night’s episode of ‘The Colbert Report.’

Since the gaffe, Bachmann has admitted that she misspoke, but Colbert takes issue with her concession. “What on earth are you apologizing for? All you said is that you have the same spirit as John Wayne Gacy, and I think there is something to that.” Colbert said. “Because like Gacy, people might think you’re a clown. But if they dig a little deeper, they’ll find you are deadly serious.”

Tom Petty Demands Michele Bachmann’s Campaign Stop Using ‘American Girl’

Michele Bachmann has now been told by Tom Petty that his song ‘American Girl’ is off limits for her presidential campaign.

Petty’s outspoken protectiveness of his music is certainly nothing new — in the ’80s, he engaged in a protracted public legal battle with his former label, MCA, over rising record prices, and more recently, he asked the Bush campaign to refrain from using his songs at campaign events.

George Stephanopoulos Takes Michele Bachmann to Task for Founding Fathers Comment

George Stephanopoulos took Michele Bachmann to task on Tuesday’s  ‘Good Morning America,’ grilling the Republican presidential candidate over her assertion that the founding fathers worked to end slavery.

Stephanopoulos argued that Bachmann’s comment is incorrect, pointing out that many of the founding fathers, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson included, held slaves.
