Starting at around 3 a.m. on Thursday morning, August 22, the Ought-7 fire spread to 300 acres over fine fuels along U.S. Highway 12.

The fire had not grown anymore by Friday morning though, and crews were already busy mopping up the fire from the highway inward.

Further west, another fire on U.S. Forest Service land managed to shut down U.S. Highway 12 on Friday.

U.S. 12 is closed from milepost 164 to 174, 98 miles east of Kooskia to the Montana Border.

The inciweb report for the Ought-7 fire indicates that it will be under full containment in the near future.
