The Montana Department of Revenue has opened an online Alcohol Server Training hub in hopes of simplifying the process.

"We now have a much more user-friendly system for either licensees, or the servers or sellers themselves to go online," said Montana Department of Revenue Alcohol Education Coordinator Lisa Scates. "They can input their first and last name, and their date of birth, and check to see if they have valid server training. If they are located in a system with valid training, then they can actually print out what we call a verification of training."

The hub is an attempt to make it easier for employers and employees to know exactly who is up-to-date on their alcohol server training, a somewhat complicated task with the numerous alcohol server training programs in the state.

"There are a lot of people in the state that need to be trained," Scates said. "In total we do have 13 different training providers. The state's program "Let's Control It' does the majority of training in the state. We actually do more training than the other 12 programs put together."

Job seekers can also find out when and where new training sessions will be held. Scates says that the Department of Revenue Training program instructors are not allowed to charge more than 15 dollars per person for the training.
