At around 2:00 a.m. this morning, September 6, multiple people called 911, reporting that they had heard gunshots near the Russell Street Bridge.

"An officer responded to the area and encountered an adult female who was intoxicated and walking on foot," said Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh. "He noticed very quickly that she had a handgun stuffed into an article of clothing that she was wearing, and he, with the assistance of other officers was able to disarm her."

Multiple charges followed after the woman explained where she had been and why the gun had been fired.

"She was walking home from a bar, and somewhere in the middle of the Russell Street Bridge, she decided to fire the handgun into the river," Welsh said. "At this point she's being held for carrying a concealed weapon while under the influence of an intoxicant, for carrying a concealed weapon in a prohibited place (because she had said she was in a bar), and for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit."

32-year-old Tiffany Francis Alexis Laedeke was taken to the Missoula County Jail after the initial investigation, all the charges against Laedeke are misdemeanors.
