BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — Enrollment for the spring semester at Montana State University has set a record for the 11th consecutive year with 15,694 students.
The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports enrollment this year increased by nearly 200 students from last spring. Enrollment is up by more than 4,300 students from spring 2008.
Enrollment for spring semester is typically lower than the fall.
The university's headcount last fall set a new record with 16,902 students.
The university says 77 percent of first-year students returned for sophomore year — its highest retention rate in 30 years.
The university's new strategic plan aims to raise the student retention rate 13 percent by 2024.
