You know it's gonna happen. You're going to hear about a bill that you either support or oppose, and you will immediately want to contact your legislator. So, what's their number? What's their email?

If you can, get your hands on a copy of the legislative guide now being offered by the Montana Electric Cooperatives' Association (MECA). Better yet, download their smart phone app for your cell phone.

Here are the details, thanks to this press release from MECA:

Legislative Guides, App Now Available
Montana’s electric cooperatives and telecommunications co-ops once again are offering the 2019-2020 Legislative Guide in traditional brochure form and in a free app for most smartphones and tablets.

The guide, in both of its forms, is a public service of the Montana Electric Cooperatives’ Association (MECA) and the Montana Telecommunications Association (MTA).

The helpful booklet and app both feature photos of all of Montana’s legislators, as well as their committee assignments and contact information. Additionally, the guide and app contain photos and contact information for the top state officeholders and Montana’s congressional delegation, as well as a list of meeting times and locations for legislative committees.

The free app can be downloaded from the App Store for iPhones and iPads, or from Google Play for Android devices by searching “Montana Legislature” or “Montana Legislative.” In addition to the same features as the guide, the app features single-push contacts for all legislators. With the press of an icon, you can email or call any legislator, or visit their Facebook or Twitter feeds, when applicable. The app will also be updated throughout the session to reflect any changes, including committee assignments and meeting places.

The paper version of the 2019-2020 guide is available for free at the information desk in the Capitol, at MECA’s office at 501 Bay Drive in Great Falls, and at electric cooperatives across the state. It also can be ordered through MECA for the cost of postage and handling. To order, send the quantity requested and a check to cover the cost of postage to: Legislative Guide, Box 3469, Great Falls MT 59403.

The cost of one copy is $2; 2, $2.75; 3-5, $7.25; 6-10, $8; 11-20, $10; 21-30, $11.50; 31-50, $13.50; 51-100, $19. For pricing information on more than 100 guides, call Sherri Carl or Ryan Hall at the Montana Electric Cooperatives’ Association, 406-761-8333, or email rural@mtco-ops.com.

The cooperatives’ service areas cover all 56 Montana counties. Each cooperative is customer-owned, locally controlled and not-for-profit. MECA is based in Great Falls, and is the publisher of Rural Montana magazine, the state’s largest circulation publication at 120,000, and the Montana Legislative Guide.
