Last week, Secretary Linda McCulloch launched a new civic engagement website geared towards K-12 students, teachers and parents.

“It’s important to me that we build a culture around our children that teaches them that their lives are directly impacted by the decisions our government makes,” Secretary McCulloch said. “Their voices matter and their voices are heard through the election process and through civic engagement.”

The website showcases Montana civic leaders, including Senator Mansfield who was integral in passing the 26th Amendment which allows 18-year-olds the right to vote, Lucille Otter a champion for voter registration and rights on Montana’s Indian Reservations and Maggie Smith Hathaway one of Montana’s first female state legislators.

The website also hosts monthly mock ballots, lesson plans for teachers, quizzes, downloadable games and coloring sheets, interactive lessons on the state constitution and the Montana election process and even a “build your own great seal” feature.

The program is an effort to increase voter registration of our youngest eligible voting population and has already reached out to nearly 35,000 Montanans.
