Montana Jobless Rate Steady at 3.7 Percent in December

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — Montana's unemployment rate remained at 3.7 percent in December with the state adding about 1,100 jobs over the month.
Montana's jobless rate is lower than the national rate of 3.9 percent.
Gov. Steve Bullock says in a statement that while Montana's economy remains strong heading into a new year, the federal government shutdown could impact the state economy and unemployment in January.
Lincoln County recorded the state's highest jobless rate last month at 8 percent, followed by Big Horn at 7.8 percent and Glacier and Mineral, both at 7.7 percent.
The lowest rate was 2 percent in McCone County, followed by Carter at 2.1 percent, Fallon at 2.4 percent and Daniels at 2.5 percent.
Among the state's reservations, the Northern Cheyenne had the highest rate at 11.9 percent.
