Montana Gas Prices on Pace to Break Last Year’s Price

Surprise, surprise. Gas prices in Montana went up again this past week and look like they will continue to do so in the near future. Montana is still beating the rest of the country with the lowest average price.

"Prices across the state of Montana have increased slightly, rising to $3.27 a gallon," said gasbuddy.com petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan. "It's a bout a three cent increase over what we saw the previous week.  The national average has also increased about a penny and a half over the past week."

Dehaan says that prices are about to be higher than they were last year at this time, but the rapid increase seen last year is unlikely.

"It's only a matter of time before we see this years price break last years price, but it will be short lived," DeHaan said. "Prices last year, that is 2013, began racing higher the first week of May and they rose some 30 cents per gallon between mid may and late May."

Billings had the lowest prices in the state at $3.11 per gallon, Dehaan says Montanan’s can expect another one to three cent increase by next Monday.
