Missoula police are seeking four men for a strong-armed robbery and assault on a woman in downtown Missoula.

Spokesman Travis Welsh said the incident occurred on West Broadway early Wednesday morning.

"The strong-armed robbery occurred in the 600 block of West Broadway between 1:30 and 2:00 a,m. when she was walking home from work," Welsh said. "She reported that she was assaulted by four unknown males. She said one of the males had what sounded like a Hispanic accent, another sounded 'white' and another had a deep voice. She did not get a good physical description of the men because they had knocked her to the ground."

Welsh defined a 'strong-armed' robbery as theft without using only hands and feet.

"They used their fists and feet as they knocked her down, kicked her and stole her purse with all her money."

Welsh said the woman was taken to St. Patrick Hospital where she was treated and released, in that none of her injuries were considered to be life-threatening.

Police are searching the area looking for any witnesses so that the four men can be brought in for questioning. Anyone with information about the assault and robbery is asked to call Crimestoppers at 721-44-44.
