Two convenience stores, one on South Reserve and one on South Orange Street, were robbed at gunpoint Monday night, March 3. In both cases the robber brandished a black handgun and was able to escape with an undisclosed amount of cash.

“The first was reported at about 10:48 p.m. in the 300 block of South Orange street,” said Missoula Police Department Public Information Officer Travis Welsh. “A suspect entered the store, pointed a black handgun at the clerk and demanded cash. He was described as wearing a maroon type jacket with a multicolored plaid design on it, described as being a ‘snowboarder-type jacket.’ He was also wearing camo pants with white tennis shoes.”

The suspect covered his face with a white mask that appeared to be made of t-shirt material with eye-holes cut out of it. The suspect left the premises on foot, it is still unclear if he had access to a nearby vehicle.

“the second one was reported at 11:24, a convenience store in the 2300 block of Reserve street. The store clerk there reported being robbed at gunpoint by a male wearing a black, neoprene mask and a gray, hooded sweatshirt that zipped in the front. He was wearing what was described as dark-colored ‘Addidas-style’ athletic pants with a white stripe down the side. He was also wearing white shoes.”

Welsh said that there may be some forthcoming video tape from at least one of the incidents.

It is unclear if the two robberies are related, so far, the only evidence to link the two are the general area and the timing.
