Missoula's Draught Works Brewery was celebrating on Monday, after receiving two prestigious awards during the recent Great American Beer Festival over the weekend in Denver, Colorado.

Brewer and co-owner Paul Marshall was understandably proud of the two awards that Draught Works received.

"We were nationally recognized for our Scepter Head IPA, which won a gold medal in the strong ale category, and we were named the Very Small Brewer of the Year," Marshall said. "The awards are a testament to out attention to detail, and the quality that we've tried to instill since day one. Aside from that, we're just proud to carry on the tradition of small Montana breweries excelling at the national level."

Marshall said Draught Works is definitely family-friendly.

"My partner Jeff has a little two year-old girl, and another one on the way," he said. "I have a little ten year-old girl, and from day one we've always said 'No one needs a beer like mom and dad.' The other thing we try to emphasize is that we have a great staff. They're all real friendly and real knowledgeable about beer.We want to make this a place where anyone can come, regardless of their knowledge about beer and learn more about beer."

Out of Billings, the Montana Brewing Company received an award for its Whitetail Wheat beer, while Uberbrew received a silver medal for its Black Hops Tactical IPA.
