The Missoula County Attorney’s office was busy juggling 12 felony cases this past week, starting May 8.

"We've seen some common themes," said Missoula County Attorney Kirsten Pabst. "There have been three felony meth cases, one of which was possession with intent to distribute. Two pretty serious partner assault cases involving violence, one involved child criminal endangerment where the suspect then allegedly fled, while intoxicated, in a vehicle with an infant in his arms."

There were also some unexpected cases.

"We had a couple felony DUI cases, which is pretty concerning when you realize that it's not a felony unless its a fourth or subsequent offense," Pabst said. "We had a burglary involving a young man at the Winds of Change, we had a pretty significant embezzlement case, over $10,000 and a Governor's Warrant involving a stalking case in Washington, several violations of privacy and communications... I think we are looking at nine counts."

Pabst went on to say that meth use had grown “exponentially” in Missoula County and was a contributing element to a host of other types of violent crime in the county, she also said Missoula was in the midst of a meth "epidemic."
