Yesterday 26 medical marijuana distributors were raided and had much of their inventory confiscated. The search warrants were given under probable cause of illegal and large-scale trafficking of marijuana. It seems as though the federal and state laws are coming into a conflict here in Montana but will it cause anything more than a bump in the road for the distributors.

So far there have been no arrests relating to the search warrants claims but a few stores have remained shut down. The businesses were believed to be in violation of the Controlled Substance Act which names marijuana as a Schedule 1 drug and therefore cannot be manufactured or distributed.

What are your opinions on the topic? If the Montana Medical Marijuana act allows the manufacturing and selling of marijuana to designated patients, but the Controlled Substance Act says they can't, will the growers need to stop for fear of criminal charges?
