BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A 32-year-old Roundup man died after the sport utility vehicle he was riding in crashed into the Musselshell River early Thursday.

The Montana Highway Patrol says a 21-year-old Billings man was northbound on a county road east of Roundup at 1:25 a.m. when he missed a sharp corner, went off a bridge and into the river.

Trooper Matt Christensen says the driver and a front-seat passenger were able to get out of the SUV, but the back seat passenger was unable to free himself.

Musselshell County Undersheriff Aaron Edwards tells The Billings Gazette (http://bit.ly/1qnKglS ) that two deputies pulled the victim from the water and began CPR, but could not resuscitate him.

The victim's name has not been released. The crash remains under investigation.
