The Montana Army National Guard’s143rd Military Police Detachment, headquartered in Livingston has arrived in Afghanistan to begin its deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  The unit will be deployed for approximately one year.

The 143rd Military Police Detachment has approximately 32 Soldiers who are conducting law and order missions at forward operating bases in northern Afghanistan.  The unit is being credited as one of the last units to transition through Manas, Air Force Base located in central Kyrgyzstan.  Manas is scheduled to close its operations later this year.

The unit was in Fort Dix, New Jersey for approximately 8 weeks for its final train up period prior to its deployment.  They departed Montana in January for Fort Dix.
