Montana Secretary of State Linda McCulloch was up late tonight, June 7, monitoring the primary election. By 11:00 p.m. only a handful of Montana counties had reported their results, even though the polls had closed at eight. Part of the delay was due to the large number of late registrations.

"As of 9:00 o'clock tonight we had over 3,300 late registrants just for today, and a total for this 30 day period of 6,219 late registrations," McCulloch said.

McCulloch said the number of late registrations was double the number from the last election. Those interested in tracking the numbers were able to watch the results roll in through the night easier than ever before.

"We have an election night reporting system that is live from the 56 counties," McCulloch said. "We got a lot of kudos for that tonight. We've had that since 2010, but since the last election in 2014 we've streamlined it and madethe mobile app much better. More than half of those looking at the results are doing so on a mobile app, off of their smart phones."

According to McCulloch, the election went extremely smoothly and she had heard no reports of any glitches from any of the counties. For the most up to date results, visit sos.mt.gov.
