It is with a very sad heart I report, legendary singer Joe Cocker passed today at age 70.

Agent Barrie Marshall confirmed that he had died of an undisclosed illness. (Updated - it was lung cancer that took Joe's life). Perhaps best known for his interpretations of others music, and setting the bar with his cover of the Beatles 'With a Little Help From My Friends' at Woodstock.

Joe was part of one of the first true Rock & Roll caravans with his participation in the Mad Dogs & Englishman tour.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Mr. Cocker a number of times in my radio career as he lived, part time, in Colorado while I was there. One of the funniest stories I've ever heard was regarding his annual garage sale. Yeah, Joe had an annual garage sale! His wife sold a bunch of his favorite memorabilia, as he called it, to her it was 'junk.' It cost him an arm and leg to get the 'junk' back!

Joe was one of the kindest, warmest persons I've ever met and will be missed. My thoughts are with his wife Pam and his dearest friends.
