KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) — A 55-year-old northwestern Montana woman is charged with shooting her boyfriend to death on Valentine’s Day.

Pamela Ruth Haines of Hungry Horse made an initial court appearance Tuesday on a deliberate homicide charge in the death of 71-year-old Thomas Eugene Edwards. Justice of the Peace Daniel Wilson set Haines’ bail at $500,000.

Court records say Haines called 911 on Feb. 14 and reported she’d shot her boyfriend. Edwards died at the residence.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry says the shooting took place after the couple got into an argument. He said Haines did not have any injuries.

Haines requested a public defender. Her arraignment is set for March 13.

The couple recently moved to Hungry Horse from California.
