Montana Sports Information issued a press release on Tuesday, stating that senior Montana Grizzly linebacker Herbert Gamboa was suspended for the first game of the season doe to a violation of team and athletic department rules.

Gamboa was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct last week and charged with a misdemeanor. He pleaded guilty in city court and paid a fine. He received a six-month deferred sentence.

The website gogriz.com listed Gamboa, number 36, as a starting outside linebacker. He was also chosen to the preseason USA College Football All-American team as an honorable mention.

The Grizzlies began their fall drills on Tuesday, and Gamboa was not allowed to attend. The team will take on North Dakota State on Saturday, August 29 at 1:30 p.m. inside Washington Grizzly Stadium in a game to be broadcast on ESPN with Brent Musburger and Shawn Palmer handling the play-by-play.
