For the first time in five years, President Barack Obama used his veto pen, to strike down the bipartisan Keystone XL Pipeline bill. Governor Steve Bullock was swift to respond releasing the following statement:“While I understand the president’s desire to protect his office from what he sees as congressional overreach, the time for political statements is over.  Montanans need an answer on Keystone, and I urge the President to approve the pipeline with measures to protect communities and private property rights as quickly as possible.”

It remains unclear if the 67 needed votes to override the veto can be gathered.
