A national school ranking organization, Niche, Inc., has selected Frenchtown Elementary as the best elementary school in the state.

KGVO News informed Frenchtown Elementary School Principal Aaron Griffin of the honor on Friday morning.

"I'm really honored and surprised," Griffin said, but then added, "I guess I'm not really surprised, because we do have a great school, great staff and great parents."

The Niche.com  report indicates that Frenchtown Elementary boasts exception scores in both math and reading, 85 percent in math and 96 percent in reading proficiency.

"You know, we really work hard in reading and math," he said. "In the lower primary K through three, we get kids reading midway through Kindergarten, we have good intervention programs for struggling students, as well as a gifted and intelligent program that pushes the upper-end kids."

Griffin said because the three schools, elementary, middle and high school are literally connected, each successive level provides inspiration and assistance to the others.

"We have a saying, when we all get together, that 'we are Frenchtown' altogether, and we strive for excellence in academics and in everything that we do."
