Former Senator Conrad Burns Dead: REACTIONS

Former Senator Conrad Burns passed away peacefully in his home today.

Burns spent the morning having coffee with friends, sharing memories of his service as a U.S. Marine and passed away this afternoon in his chair from natural causes.

No details are available yet on a memorial service.

Governor Steve Bullock on the passing of former United States Senator Conrad Burns:

“Tonight, Lisa and I join Montanans to pay respect and celebrate the life of Conrad Burns,” said Governor Bullock. “Conrad was a dedicated public servant and a fierce advocate for Montana - especially rural Montana - in the United States Senate and at home, with an unrivaled sense of humor to boot."

Senator Jon Tester on Senator Conrad Burns:

“The very first time I met Conrad was at the Montana Agri-Trade Exposition in Billings.  I had listened to his broadcasts on the radio for years, but I’ll never forget hearing that powerful voice from across the room.  Sharla and I send our thoughts to the entire Burns family and people of Montana as we remember the life of a man who loved this state.  Conrad’s service to our nation as a Marine, County Commissioner, and United States Senator will be forever remembered in history.”
