Former Mayor Jeff Krauss Talks New City Manager And Black Olive Project (Listen)

On the latest edition of Open for Business, three-time mayor of Bozeman Jeff Krauss joined Tom Egelhoff to talk about Bozeman’s new city manager and the Black Olive project slated for discussion at the City Commission meeting Monday night October 9th.

(Listen to this informative interview below)

Bozeman City Manager

Andrea Surratt, of Hickory, North Carolina was given the job of Bozeman City Manager with a unanimous vote of the commission.

In the interview, Krauss discusses why she was his choice for the position.

Former Bozeman City Manager Chris Kukulski left the position in March 2017 and a group was hired to do the legwork to select candidates.

Eighty two possible candidates were reduced to six and after several interviews the commission selected Surratt as their unanimous choice. It was the first unanimous selection in many years for the position.

Surratt will receive a slightly higher salary than Kukulski and is expected to begin her duties on November 1st.

Black Olive Project

Krauss gave listeners a lot of information about the history of downtown growth and the plans that will be used to guide future development in the downtown.

Save Bozeman, a local neighborhood group, is protesting the Black Olive Project feeling it will run the look and feel of their neighborhood and open the door to more high rise construction.

It’s expected that they will turn out a lot of people at the October 9th commission meeting to let their concerns be known.

Some Final Thoughts

One of the questions I asked Krauss during the interview below is how will the Black Olive Project benefit Bozeman?

It should be a very interesting meeting with lots of viewpoints expressed. You can catch the Commission Meeting online HERE.

Or catch it on TV on Channel 190 if you have Spectrum Cable. I hope you will watch. Any decision affects all of us.
