Former Montana Gov. Tim Babcock has died at the age of 95. Babcock's wife, Betty, was a former state legislator who helped write the Montana Constitution. She died in 2013.

The Babcocks were stalwarts of the Republican party, attending every GOP presidential nominating convention over six decades.

Tester's statement on the passing of former Governor Babcock:

“Montana has lost a great ambassador. Former Governor Babcock led this state with courage, wisdom and humility, and his legacy still stands today.  His leadership, military service, and political conscience will forever be remembered and honored.”

Senator Daines on the passing of Governor Babcock:

“I first met Governor Babcock when I was the youngest delegate for Ronald Reagan at the 1984 Republican Convention. Governor Babcock always took time to encourage young leaders and served as a tremendous mentor not only for myself, but countless others. The Governor has always been a tireless servant who dedicated his life to Montana and this country. Cindy and I will be keeping his family in our prayers during this time.”
