The Minor Paradise Complex Incident consists of four fires, Emigrant, North Eightmile, Horsetail and Sheep Creek, South of Bozeman. The cause of the fire is reported to be lightning and is currently over 11,800 acres in size at 55% containment. More info on closures and fire containment inside.

Stage 1 Fire Restrictions are in effect for the Gallatin National Forest including the Absaroka –Beartooth Wilderness and the Beartooth Ranger District, Custer National Forest (excluding the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness)

The gate will be closed at East side of Hyalite Dam including Chisholm, and Hood Creek campgrounds and Palisades, Emerald Lake and Flanders Creek Trailheads will be closed. Windowrock/Maxey Cabin is also closed. Blackmore Day Use Area will remain open. This closure is due to the Horsetail Fire. Map will be available on Inciweb when fully implemented. Additional Trail closures will be implemented today for the Emigrant Fire including the North Fork of Bear Creek #60, Knox Lake #64 and #279 Monitor Peak Trail on the Gardiner and Yellowstone R.D.’s

Sheep Fire
Cause
: Lightning
Size: Now 570 acres, was 576 acres
Location: Sawtooth Mountain in Tom Miner Basin, approximately 25 miles northwest of Gardiner
Closures: Tom Miner Basin: The Tom Miner Basin Road leading up to and including the Tim Miner Campground was opened yesterday. As well as the upper Tom Miner basin that includes trail #120 from Tom Miner Campground leading to Buffalo Horn Pass as well as the Sunlight Creek Trail #291 will be opened. The Divide Creek Road #3250 will also be opened. An area around the Sheep Fire from Sheep Creek to the west Grizzly Creek to the east and the Forest Boundary to the north and Yellowstone National Park boundary to the south will remain closed. This includes Horse Creek Trail #297 that leads to Shooting Star Lake.

North Eightmile
Cause
: Lighting
Size: Now 414 acres, was 414 acres
Location: North Fork Eightmile Creek, approximately 20 miles southwest of Livingston
Closures: Hyalite Recreation Area: As of Friday, in the Hyalite Creek drainage, the public is allowed back into the West Fork of Hyalite Creek all the way to Hyalite Peak. This means Chisholm and Hood Creek Campgrounds, Maxey and Window Rock Cabins, as well as the Crescent Lake Trail and Palace Butte Trailhead that leads to Hyalite Peak and Grotto Falls will be open. The East Fork of Hyalite Creek will remain closed, including the Palisade Falls Trailhead and Picnic area, Emerald and Heather Lakes Trailhead and Flanders Creek drainage.

Horsetail Fire
Cause: Lightning
Size: Now 143 acres, was 143 acres
Location: ½ mile north of Horsetail Falls, east of Flanders Mountain
Closures:Hyalite Recreation Area: As of Friday, in the Hyalite Creek drainage, the public is allowed back into the West Fork of Hyalite Creek all the way to Hyalite Peak. Emigrant
Cause
: Lightning
Size: Now 10,770 acres, was 10,455 acres
Location: South of Emigrant Peak, between Gold Prize Creek and North Fork Sixmile Creek
Closures:

The closure area boundary for the Emigrant Fire starts at the northwest corner of Section 32 in Township 6 south, Range 8 east and runs straight south along section lines to and along the Forest Service boundary line in Section 18 in Township 7 south, Range 8 east. From the southwest corner of section 18, the west edge of the closure runs south along section lines to the southwest corner of section 7 in Township 8 south, Range 8 east. From that corner, the southern edge of the closure area runs straight east along section lines to just north of Knox Lake in Township 8 south, Range 9 east, Section 15. The boundary then skirts north of trail # 620 to the east edge of section 11. From just north of the southeast corner of section 11, the east edge of the boundary runs straight north along section lines to the northeast corner of section 26 in Township 7 south, Range 9 east. The east closure boundary then follows along the west side of Thompson Creek Trail up to the Thompson Creek Trailhead. The east edge of the closure then follows just west of the West Fork Mill Creek Road to just south of the junction with Arrastra Creek Road #3274. The closure boundary runs just south of FS Road #3274 until it reaches section 34 in Township 6 south, Range 9 east. The remainder of that road lies within the closed area. The north edge of the closure runs just north of the remainder of FS Road #3274 until the road runs into section 33. From that point, the north edge of the closure runs along section lines until it gets to Emigrant Gulch Road #3272 in Section 31. The closure follows just north of FS Road #3272 until that road junctions with FS Road #3273 (the road that runs up the backside of Emigrant Peak). From that junction, the north edge of the closure runs directly west to the Forest Service boundary at the midsection point of section 32 in Township 6 south, Range 8 east. The closure also includes the northwest ¼ section of section 32.

Trails that fall into the closure area are: 606, 61, 601, 72, 65, 279, 381(partial), 60(partial), 64(partial)

Roads that fall into the closure area are: FS #348, 348A, 3273, 3274(partial), 3272B, 3273
