After strong pleas from Montana's Congressional delegation, FEMA (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) relented, and have granted emergency funds for the Lodgepole Complex fires.

Yesterday, Rep. Greg Gianforte and Senator Steve Daines sent a letter to Brock Long, Administrator of FEMA, requesting reconsideration of Montana’s request for eligibility for fire management assistance. The Lodgepole Complex fires have already consumed more than 270,000 acres, and the devastating disaster threatens the livelihood of thousands of Montanans.

“We are glad to see FEMA urgently and quickly prioritize our request to provide the necessary relief for Montanans,” Daines and Gianforte stated.

Senator Jon Tester also wrote a strongly worded letter to FEMA management requesting the funds.
