Senator Steve Daines has helped introduce legislation to protect unborn children from the pain of late-term abortions.
Daines is an original cosponsor of the commonsense Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This legislation would prevent late-term abortion nationwide beyond 20 weeks – more than halfway through pregnancy when a baby can feel pain.

“The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act is an important measure to do exactly that: protect unborn children who can feel pain,” Daines stated. “I believe it is critical to help the most vulnerable in our society and the unborn are certainly among those most in need and deserving of our advocacy. Studies have shown that babies can feel pain by 20 weeks – and as I have to believe any American would agree, it is unconscionable to subject a child, at any stage in their life, to such pain.”

Daines was a cosponsor of the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and actively urged for Senate passage in the 113th Congress.
