BUTTE, Mont. (AP) - Law enforcement officers in Butte are searching for a man who shot a woman three times during a robbery attempt at a taxi service office.

Capt. Doug Conway says the man fired four rounds Thursday night and hit the woman three times. Sheriff Ed Lester says the woman was in stable condition at St. James Healthcare with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers say a man wearing a hard hat, a scarf over his face and a camouflaged jacket entered Mining City Taxi at about 7:20 p.m. The woman apparently fled outside, where she was shot.

Officers aren't sure if the shooter left on foot or in a vehicle.
