Authorities to Release Findings in Fatal Crash

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — Montana Highway Patrol officials say they will release their findings in the investigation of a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a fire engine that killed a family of five from Townsend and the Three Forks fire chief.

The highway patrol released a statement saying officials will discuss the cause of the U.S. Highway 12 crash east of Helena on Tuesday morning.

Authorities have been piecing together what happened since June 19, when the crash and fire killed Chief Todd Rummel, 29-year-old Matthew Boegli, 30 year old Crystal Ross and their three young children.

There were no survivors.

The findings have been under review for three weeks after investigators forwarded their conclusions to a team of crash re-constructionists.
